Notes to passengers :

1. Additional Charge for Baggage:

In general, additional charge for baggage may be levied on:

Baby prams are also required to pay the additional charge for baggage according to the above guidelines.

Wheelchairs and crutches carried by disabled passengers are free of charge.

2. Fare Receipt:

Taxis are installed with a receipt printing device. Passengers can ask for a machine-printed fare receipt. It is an offence if taxi drivers refuse, without reasonable excuse, to issue receipts to passengers upon request. In case the receipt printing device fails to operate, the taxi driver should issue a hand-written receipt.

3. Fare Change:

It is not an offence if a taxi driver cannot give change to HK$500 or HK$1,000 notes.

TAXI OPERATING AREAS

Urban taxis (red taxis) are available for hire throughout Hong Kong (except Tung Chung Road and roads in South Lantau).

New Territories taxis (green taxis) are available for hire in

They are also permitted to carry passengers along specified routes to/from the following locations:

Lantau taxis(blue taxis) are available for hire on Lantau Island, Chek Lap Kok and the Public Transport Interchange at the Hong Kong Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.

Details of permitted areas for New Territories and Lantau taxis are stipulated in the Schedule 7 to the Road Traffic (Registration and Licensing of Vehicles) Regulations, Chapter 374E.

Note: New Territories taxis carrying passengers via Sha Tin to and from Tsuen Wan MTR Station, Tsing Yi AR Station, Hong Kong Disneyland and Hong Kong International Airport Passenger Terminal 1 have to use Shing Mun Tunnels.
