Taxi Fare

Taxi fare increases from July 14, 2024
Urban Taxi(HK$)
First 2 kilometres or any part thereof $27 → $29
Every subsequent 200 metres / Every period of 1 minute waiting time $1.9 → $2.1
After the chargeable amount has reached $93.5 $1.3 → $1.4
Every piece of baggage (Except light personal hand baggage carried inside passenger compartment) $6
Wheelchairs and crutches carried by disabled passengers Free
Every animal or bird $5
Every hiring arranged through telephone booking $5
Surcharge for Every Hiring Involving the Use of Toll Tunnel, Toll Road or Toll Area
Cross-Harbour Tunnel
$25 (amount of toll) + $25 (return toll)
Remark:The return toll is not payable by passenger if the hiring begins from a cross-harbour taxi stand or the final destination is not on the opposite side of the harbour.

Notes to passengers :

1. Additional Charge for Baggage:

In general, additional charge for baggage may be levied on:

Baby prams are also required to pay the additional charge for baggage according to the above guidelines.

Wheelchairs and crutches carried by disabled passengers are free of charge.

2. Fare Receipt:

Taxis are installed with a receipt printing device. Passengers can ask for a machine-printed fare receipt. It is an offence if taxi drivers refuse, without reasonable excuse, to issue receipts to passengers upon request. In case the receipt printing device fails to operate, the taxi driver should issue a hand-written receipt.

3. Fare Change:

It is not an offence if a taxi driver cannot give change to HK$500 or HK$1,000 notes.
